Bull Terrier Types & Mixes

There are two types of Bull Terrier. A White Bull Terrier and a Coloured Bull Terrier.

Suggested by its name, this type of Bull Terrier come with colours like red, red smut, red and white, red smut and white, fawn, fawn smut, fawn and white, fawn smut and white, brindle, brindle and white, black brindle, black brindle and white, black and tan and also black tan and white. The Coloured Bull Terrier is recognized to be the same breed as the White Bull Terrier.

This Bull Terrier is known by its white coating colour with marking only on the head.

Compared to the Coloured Bull Terrier, the White Bull Terrier is prone to have skin diseases and genes related diseases.

The breeder has always had their way with breeding a new mix for Bull Terrier. Some of it is Miniature Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Bullmatian Terrier, Bully Jack Terrier, Brazilian Dogo, Rottbull and Bull Terrier mix Chihuahua.

Although they share the same look ( egg-shaped head with the muscular body) but in mini size, this breed comes from the result of breeding the origin now extinct English White Terrier, with Dalmatian, and a Bulldog.

Their size never exceeds 14 inches.

In the UK, there Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Also known as Staffie.

In England, they are known as Nanny Dog. This is because of their great reputation to be a child’s playmate and also a great guardian. Just like the Bull Terrier, this dog is not good around other dog and short leash is recommended when you walk with them.

While in America, there are American Staffordshire Terrier, or better known as Amstaff. Generally, they have the same breed as Staffordshire Bull Terrier, but while Staffie is known to be goods with children, an Amstaff is more like a sports buddy. aside from that, an American Staffordshire is also bigger than a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Bullmatian Terrier

Bullmatian Terrier is a mix of a Dalmatian and a Bull Terrier.

This dog is not a purebred.

However, it shares a few features as Bull Terrier such as muscular body, barking voice, and the erected ears.

Brazilian Dogo

In Brazil, a breeder name Pedro Pessoa Ribeiro Dantas has cross breed a Bull Terrier with his neighbour Boxer thus had born a Brazilian Dogo. A Brazilian Dogo is said to have a quality that is so much better than a Bull Terrier and a Boxer. They are more obedient, quicker learner, more tolerant, and stronger than both parents. A Rottbull is a hybrid dog between a rottweiler and a Bull Terrier. They are large and strong thus are compatible to be a watchdog. This dog could easily intimidate by strangers but could easily go with other dogs.

A Bully Jack Terrier is a crossbreed of a Bull Terrier and a Jack Russell Terrier. While the Bull Terrier is the breed for the fight, the Jack Russell is breed to be a hunter.

This dog is not recommended for family with little children. Bully Jack Terrier is also great as guard dogs.

Last but not least, Bull Terrier mix Chihuahua, suggested by its name, it’s a mix of a Bull Terrier with a Chihuahua. They are lovable and energetic but hard to train. they are more likely to love to fight than to train.
